Eastport Historic Society

Some of the photographs housed at the Maine State Archives are images from the Eastport Historic Society Collection. Ranging from vintage postcards to reproductions from albums and original negatives, these views document eastern Maine from the late 1800's through to the early 1900's. Many of the photographs were produced before the great fire of 1886, and all hold historical interest as the culture of this region has undergone vast changes.  Photographer Davis Loring is credited with producing many of the images.  He had a studio in Eastport during the years 1855-1888.
