County Atlas CDs

Eleven Maine counties commissioned atlases between 1871 and 1883.  The companies producing these volumes created maps from actual surveys, plans and official records.  They drew the maps with extreme accuracy and great detail, some listing the names of homeowners and other buildings.  They also included information such as county histories, business directories and advertisements.  The Maine State Archives has digitized the volumes page by page, in full color at high resolution, and recorded the resulting images from each atlas on a single CD.   The eleven CDs contains atlases for the following counties:
